Performing as the six younger von Trapp children: Gretl, Marta, Louisa, Kurt, Brigitta and Friedrich, 17 children were chosen out of 400 talents for the upcoming Broadway production of The Sound of Music. Each role will be played by two or three of the 17 children, allowing audiences to enjoy the individuality that every child brings to the stage with their assigned characters.
During Base Entertainment Asia’s press conference, chairman Datuk Jared Lim had commented that after putting Malaysia on the map for international touring musicals, the company aimed to take it a step further, determined to elevate the local arts and live entertainment by bridging local and Broadway talents on the global stage.
Associate tour director Anthony C Daniel and tour choreographer James Gray praised the local children’s talent, stating that they were “blown away” by the tremendous skill shown by the children even “without any formal training”.
