Singapore's Balestier area is synonymous with its lineup of charming showrooms offering furniture, fittings and homewares. While these shops still make the neighbourhood a popular destination, the often unpredictable price tags and the penchant for bargaining tend to keep younger homeowners and designers at bay, as they have come to expect more transparency in their shopping.

The team behind lighting showroom Sol Luminaire, also helming Galerie 5 and The Lab2.1 under the former, were instantly enamoured with these heritage streets; wanting to refresh the shopping experience in the neighbourhood, they saw the potential to expand into the area as a home for their newest boutique: Rooms by Sol Luminaire.
