How do you make a place feel like home? Besides surrounding yourself with the objects you love, having art on your walls can make a world of difference. French design brand Roche Bobois believes in turning abodes into spaces with personality, wit and creativity. This brand philosophy is apparent in its collections, which fuse craft traditions with innovative materials and forms.
For this collaboration, the French company teamed up with three homegrown talents to imbue their showrooms in Singapore with soul and character. A lively mix of objets d’art by ceramic artist Genevieve Ang, as well as paintings by Charles Wong Tze Chau and Jays Phua were hand-picked to complement the interior settings of the Roche Bobois boutiques at Boon Siew Building and Paragon Shopping Centre.
PLAY ON
As graduates of the National University of Singapore’s school of architecture, Wong and Ang’s design training is evident in their work, but manifested in different ways. Ang, also known as Gellyvieve, finds clay a “liberating” medium. Her grasp of the material is partly shaped by the many ways in which clay is used in architecture, such as to create floor tiles, on roof eaves or as porcelain bathroom furnishings.
