In a refined Orchard apartment, Kelvin and Karen Gan of KGID craft a serene, gallery-inspired home where art, antiques and modern elegance coexist in harmony
-
To husband-and-wife duo Kelvin and Karen Gan, co-founders of interior design firm KGID, the transformation of this 2,800 sq ft, four-bedroom apartment in Singapore's Orchard Road area was as much about preservation as it was about reinvention.
The homeowners had amassed a treasured collection of artworks, sculptures, and antique furniture over the years—pieces rich with memory and personal history. The challenge lay in integrating these items into a contemporary setting without compromising on the home’s desired modernity.
A MODERN GALLERY
The designers’ solution was to re-envision the apartment, both literally and conceptually. Many of the homeowners’ artworks were reframed to blend into the updated interiors, each one carefully reconsidered to suit its new context.
By curating a palette of clean architectural lines and neutral hues, the team further moulded a gallery-like aesthetic for the home, one that allowed the art to breathe and stand out in the interiors. High-quality materials with soft contrasts, such as stone, leather and warm timber, add subtle depth to the space.Diese Geschichte stammt aus der June-July 2025-Ausgabe von Tatler Homes Singapore.
