THE FIVE BEST THINGS ABOUT THE FIRST PROJECT EVOLVE WOMEN'S GRAVITY JAM
Katherine Moore
EVOLVE TO FLY

Red Bull Formation paved the way, setting female freeriders and downhillers loose on the natural gnar and manmade hits of a former Red Bull Rampage site in the Utah desert. Then Germany's Audi Nines and South Africa's DarkFEST followed suit, inviting women riders to hit some of the biggest jumps ever built. But what about here in the UK? Deciding it was time the booming women's freeride and downhill scene was showcased on home soil, a trio of British riders Veronique Sandler, Becci Skelton and Sian Dillon - organised Project Evolve, a women's gravity jam held at Revolution Bike Park in North Wales last month.

The appetite was undeniable 140 riders flocked to the event from all four corners of the British Isles, and as far away as the Alps, after it sold out in just six hours. Organised with a strong emphasis on having a chilled out, competition-free day when female riders could come together and just enjoy hanging out, the jam was a massive success, proving that there's a bright future for women's freeride and DH in the UK. Here, Katherine Moore picks out five of the things that made Project Evolve so great...
