Black Pepper BEAUTY!

Dave Barham finally gets his hands on the R10 TH from BSA to see how much it differs from his own R10 SE
Black Pepper BEAUTY!
If you’ve been following my hunting exploits in our sister title, Airgun World, over the past three years, you’ll know that my ‘go to’ hunting rifle has been the BSA R10 SE Super Carbine. After seeing the R10 TH model at last year’s British Shooting Show I’ve been itching to get my hands on one to see how it performs, and just recently a meeting with the guys at BSA threw me the opportunity to get myself one with a rather magnificent Black Pepper stock for a long-term test,

A REAL LOOKER

If you’re like me and ‘collect’ air rifles, you’ll probably have that one ‘go to’ rifle in your collection that you keep picking up when you head out hunting. Until now, for me, that has been the R10 SE. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy shooting my other rifles, including the springers, but when I know I’ve got a job to do it’s the R10 that always ends up in the boot of my car. I’ve been shooting the original SE version now for well over two years; it has never let me down and I’ve lost count of the number of rabbits I have taken with that particular rifle.

As soon as I saw the Super Carbine version of the TH with the Black Pepper laminate Minelli stock, I knew I wanted one, not just because it really looks the part, but also because there have been a few major improvements since the launch of the original SE model.

Before I carry on, let’s just clear something up; the ‘TH’ addition to the R10 name stands for THumbhole stock – it’s nothing to do with a tenth anniversary or anything like that!
