Graduating from JJ School of Arts, I used to be a frequent visitor at ‘Blue Frog’. A crush on this girl and my efforts to impress her landed me a date with her and a part-time job as a photographer there, 15 days a month. Then came my way, a job at Rolling Stone, as a fulltime photographer. A couple of freelance projects later, I unlocked my passion for documenting human life: the emotional, the intimate, the unusual. Wedding photography was a happy accident when I as a guest happened to shoot my friend cum tattoo artist’s wedding. The memories are still blurred but surprisingly the photos weren’t. So here I am!
Candid photography is all the hype these days. What are your feelings about candid photography?
Every successful photographer has a niche of their own. It all comes down to where you narrow down your focus. Wedding photography is such a diverse business. Shooting the big day emphasising a candid documentary style of photography is becoming increasingly popular. But the one thing that binds the diversity is the emotions behind it. The idea is to ultimately keep it real. These are moments you want to reminisce over and over again. I personally enjoy working with people and want to help them celebrate one of the most memorable days of their lives. So no matter what form and technique, as long as they are making memories, I want to be there capturing them!
Is there ample amount of work for a budding photographer who wishes to enter this business?
