The number of tamers was restricted to 294 in Madurai's Avaniyapuram, and 254 in Tiruchy’s Periya Suriyur, but the 150-person cap on spectators went for a toss. Hundreds of people, many of them without masks, thronged the venues, leaving no room for social distancing.
