There has been a sharp increase in the amount of low-carbon technologies connected to Plymouth's electricity network over the past year, according to new data provided by Western Power Distribution.
Solar panels and electric vehicle (EV) charging points are the dominant technologies being adopted by residents according to a graphic supplied by WPD, with the number of installations almost doubling in 2021 compared to the previous year.
There were more than 800 instances of low-carbon technologies being connected to WPD's network over the past year, a sharp rise on the previous year when around 450 devices were installed.
Perhaps due to the Covid pandemic and lockdowns, 2020 connections were down on the previous year, but there were still fewer than 500 instances of green tech joining the electricity network in 2019.
