RANDELL SCORED WITH A FREE-KICK DURING THE 4-2 DEFEAT
CHRIS ERRINGTON
MIXED EMOTIONS

MIDFIELDER Adam Randell was 'absolutely gutted' after Plymouth Argyle's 4-2 defeat away to Sheffield Wednesday, even though he scored a superb first goal for his hometown club.

The out-of-sorts Pilgrims trailed 2-0 at the break but were thrown a lifeline by the 21-year-old in the first minute of the second half.

Argyle were awarded a free-kick 25 yards out and Randell expertly curled it over the Wednesday defensive wall and into the net past the despairing dive of Northern Ireland international goalkeeper Bailey PeacockFarrell.

It was a memorable way for the midfielder from Plymstock to open his goalscoring account, and in front of more than 20,000 fans at Hillsborough.

However, it was all in vain as the Pilgrims ended up being beaten and conceded more than three goals in a game for the first time this season.

Randell, who made his 10th Argyle start in all competitions against Wednesday, said: “I'm absolutely gutted, I would rather not score and win the game, obviously.
