A POTENTIAL rise to the council tax to cover policing costs will be discussed at the Police and Crime Panel meeting later this week.
Last month, Police and Crime Commissioner Alison Hernandez asked residents whether they thought the force delivered value for money and whether they had confidence in policing.
Ms Hernandez said the residents response would inform “about how I set the council tax budget precept for the budget meeting” which will be held on Friday, January 28.
She told the BBC the force had added 498 officers since 2016/17, up to a total of 3,422 officers this financial year. She said a further 188 officers would be added in 2022/23.
The agenda for the meeting, to be held in Plymouth, includes a statement from Ms Hernandez which reads: “My proposal is for a total precept increase of £10 this year, which equates to a council tax Band D of £246.56.
