Teacher who lied about ban is struck off for good

Tariq Majid Qureshi, 61, was temporarily employed at St Anne's RC High School in Stockport for three months despite previously being banned from teaching for inappropriate conduct at a school in Bolton.

A misconduct hearing heard Dr Qureshi took on a temporary contract at the Stockport school from September 2018 to December 2018 after he did not disclose his previous behaviour.

During his employment there, he committed a string of sexually motivated offences against a pupil.

The offences included kissing the pupil on the head and sliding his hand under the table to touch their leg.

His behaviour first came to light at the school in October 2018, when a pupil disclosed to staff members that Dr Qureshi, of Sheader Drive, Salford, had made them feel uncomfortable.
