Max Verstappen insists he is fully focused on winning the Japanese Grand Prix despite rival Lewis Hamilton calling for sanctions against his Red Bull team if they broke the salary cap.
Hamilton claims he saw last year’s title winners bringing in a lot of upgrades and wondered how it was all being paid for within the financial regulations.
And he says that if rules were broken then punishment needs to be handed out. The FIA have delayed publication of their investigation until Monday – a day after Verstappen could win back-toback titles.
But referring to last season, when Verstappen, above, snatched Hamilton’s potential eighth world title from him moments from the end of the final race, Hamilton said: “I remember last year in Silverstone we had our last upgrade and, fortunately, it was great and we could fight with it. But then we would see Red Bull every weekend or every other weekend bringing upgrades.
