Abu Dhabi is a deep-water start in Yas Marina. Right before the horn goes, skull backwards with your hands and start a light kick – this will get your body horizontal in the water and ready for a fast start.
The first section is within the marina. It’s flat, there’s no current and it’s salty, which will give you some buoyancy. Abu Dhabi is also usually wetsuit optional. All of this means the first part can be lightning fast – just don’t go too hard too soon!
