I was recording a song live for a podcast when my voice cracked on a note. While I do care about quality, the feel was great during that take and I didn't feel the need to go back to correct the error. None of my other band members even reacted to it, though the editor of the podcast cleaned it up a tad. But it didn't matter.
It didn't matter because it's crucial to show that things can go wrong during live recordings and performances. It happens at gigs and whenever I see it, it warms my heart because it makes that artiste human. This is as real as it gets. It isn't necessary for a song to be pristine. If you deliver it with honest feeling and emotion, you're good and don't need to stress. This is the slack we musicians need to start cutting for ourselves.
