THROUGH THE DECADES, streetwear has taken many forms. From the bell bottoms and tiedyed T-shirts in the ’60s to the oversized denim jeans and fitted caps of the early noughties, streetwear was less about fashion and more about the wearer’s desire to send out a message and be part of a sub-culture.
Today, for better or worse, streetwear has become a trend. Luxury brands trot out streetwear-inspired collections almost every season and labels that once sued streetwear brands for misappropriating their logos are now collaborating with them instead.
