The coronavirus pandemic might’ve put life on hold for millions of people across the world but as any true romantic knows, love always finds a way. This year scuppered the big-day plans of many prospective brides but some found a way around it – including popular radio and TV presenter Tracey Lange.

Tracey and Avukile Mabombo tied the knot on 1 October at the Old Foundry Hotel in Cape Town after planning their scaled-down wedding in just 32 days. The date had an emotional connection – it was the birthday of Tracey’s father, Colin, who died on 30 September 2018 aged 71, and in honour of her dad, her floral arrangement was wrapped in one of his old ties.

The bride wore a custom-made tea-length white dress, the sheer bodice embellished with hand-beaded lace. It was created by Cape Town-based designer Anene Ferreira in just 26 days.

“Because of doing TV for so many years and having worn more than 520 evenings gowns I’ve had just about every look,” Tracey says. “For that reason I was clear that it must be something I’ve never been seen in.”

Avukile was involved in the finer details and even created a mood board for the wedding. Along with Tracey’s stylist, Kyra Laubser, he chose the dresses of the maid of honour, Roxanne van Eyslend, and bridesmaids – Andrea Stephens, his sister Sixolile Mabombo and Tracey’s sister Deidré van der Heyde – in different shades and styles to tie in with the autumn colour palette and to match each woman’s personality and style.
