Wills & Kate Saving The Crown

The relevance of the British monarchy has never been questioned more than now after being constantly attacked by Prince Harry this year. But through all the drama, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have emerged as the jewels of the crown, forging ahead with their roles and proving the institution will thrive when they finally begin their reign as king and queen.

The couple, who are currently touring Scotland and charming the nation to help ward off calls for independence from the UK, put on a united front as they visited the Scottish Violence Reduction Centre in Cockenzie, East Lothian, on May 24.

Leaning over a DJ turntable, Kate Middleton, 39, had her husband in hysterics as she tried to lay down a beat. “It sounds like a cat,” Prince William, 38, jovially mocked her. “It’s hurting my ears,” he added to the amusement of bystanders.

It’s the pair’s common touch, driven by the duchess, that continues to endear them to people 10 years after their wedding at Westminster Abbey in 2011. “For someone who wasn’t born royal, [Kate] does royalty very well,” royal biographer Katie Nicholl told 60 Minutes.

In a moving speech at the opening ceremony of the Church of Scotland’s General Assembly on May 22, William admitted the country held memories of the “happiest” and “saddest” moments of his life. “The connection that I feel to Scotland will run forever deep,” the prince confessed. “It was here 20 years ago that I met Catherine,” he explained, referring to how he and Kate crossed paths while studying at the University of St Andrews in Fife.
