Celtic Goals

Jack Aitchison’s ultimate aim is to become a first-team regular, and hopes his performances for club and country can help him in that regard.

JACK Aitchison may only be 17-years-old but the young Celtic striker has already made a big impression with Celtic supporters after scoring on his first-team debut just two months after his 16th birthday. That goal, and game, made history as Aitchison became Celtic’s youngest ever player and goalscorer.

Since then, he has made three further first-team appearances, all from the bench, and his target is to add considerably to both tallies in the years ahead.

Much hard work remains ahead of him, however, but that’s something he embraces, knowing that his performances for Celtic’s Development Squad, and the Scotland Under-19 squad, can only help him along the way.

The young Hoops striker has just returned from international duty, where his goals helped Donald Park’s U19 squad qualify for the Elite Round stage of the European Championships early next year.

It was an impressive contribution from Aitchison, who was making his first competitive appearances at that level of international football, but as he explained to the Celtic View, it wasn’t something which unduly fazed him.

“We just played three games in a week and I managed to score two goals in the two games I played in,” he said. “I picked up another yellow in the second game so I was suspended for the third. Overall, it was a good week and I’m looking forward to the next game now.
