Rath, or the Chariot, is a mythical vehicle which was symbolically made a political one, as the 'Ramrath Yatra' set rolling in the beginning of the nineties, in India. The chariot wheel somehow became a metaphor for the ever increasing presence of the Hindutva ideologies, the culmination of which we are witnessing in contemporary times. From popular books on Hindu mythical characters to films like the recent Adipurush, the wheel of Hindutva is rolling and churning propaganda.The Desh 2July 2023 issue observes these events through three essays written by Tilottama Mazumder, Sayandeb Chowdhury and Tajuddin Ahmed.
