As the month of July approaches many people’s thoughts turn to holidays. In his Editorial Fr John Walsh suggests that we might consider a pilgrimage with all its spiritual benefits. It need not be an expensive place abroad, a quiet place or holy site in Ireland would serve just as well. Remember, our souls need a vacation too!
All our regular articles appear with one exception as Deirdre Anglim our dedicated gardening expert is retiring. She has been writing for the Saint Martin Magazine since 2005 when she took over from her father, Peter Hutchinson. On page 25 you will find her final contribution which is of a more personal nature. We are eternally grateful for all her work on our behalf, and we know she has inspired many readers and helped them to enjoy more fully their ‘own piece of heaven’. Thank you Deirdre and we wish you many happy days ahead.
The gardening section continues with a new writer, Frater Fiachra and under a different heading, The Cloister Garden. He has an introductory piece on page 28 which is followed by some interesting insights on Lavender.
