such as timber frames, are raising

MPs have been told. Many modern
methods of construction and new types
of engineering have not been fully tested
for their ability to withstand fire, Mike
Wood of the Passive Fire Protection
Federation warned. “Fire safety is too
often seen as a constraint in design,
limiting flexibility [and] adding cost,” he
said. “One of the most dominant trends
is to take short cuts in fire safety.”
