Perhaps no other franchise has underperformed as much as Delhi Daredevils has in the ten-year history of the IPL. Season after season, the Delhi squad promised so much before the start of the tournament but somehow messed it up repeatedly on the field. They have now achieved the tag of being the perennial underachievers and as they step into the eleventh year of the league, they would be hoping for a turnaround in their fortunes. And given the team Delhi has assembled this time along with a new and inspiring captain, they certainly can harbor hopes of a better time in IPL 2018.
The biggest positive this season for Delhi is the return of Gautam Gambhir. After seven seasons with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Gambhir has finally returned to his home state. He led KKR to two titles and will now be captaining Delhi which will certainly add a different edge to the Daredevils. The left-handed opener is also one of the most successful batsmen of the tournament with 4000-plus runs to his name and will be itching to make an impact for the Delhi Daredevils in IPL 2018.
