CATCHFLY
Basement Level, 12 Ann Siang Road
6222 7183 | facebook.com/catchfl y.sg
First impressions: Situated in a shop house basement, new American-style cocktail bar Catchfly is small, intimate and cosy. The décor, with its mix of plush teal armchairs and black marble furnishings, feels contemporary and luxurious, while a cool mix of hip-hop, chart and alternative music plays in the background. Your eye is immediately drawn to the back-lit shelves behind the bar, which display a collection of all sorts of booze, from American rums and gins to whiskies and absinthes. Behind the bar is mixologist Liam Baer, who is passionate about crafting well-thought-out and intricately layered cocktails.
The Chosen One: My favourite tipple was the Honey Badger ($22), a combination of rosemary-infused bourbon, lemon, ginger, yellow chartreuse and honey. I loved the aromatic scent I caught from the snip of fresh rosemary every time I took a sip. For those who prefer fruity and floral hints, I’d recommend the Self(ie) Adored ($23), which mixes Bison Grass vodka with raspberry, shiso, lemon, elderflower and rosehip liqueur. What’s more, this cocktail comes with a Polaroid snap of you or your group, which is a cute touch.
