We have not been a great pair or wonderfully unique parents or anything. In fact we had been a very volatile couple and there had been a lot of fireworks before and after Diwali. We were not very good at following any rules of parenting either (though now I lecture Saumya on how to bring up her boys!) We hollered in front of our girls and did not take our fight to the bedroom to discuss or whatever. In fact we did all the wrong things. We cribbed about each other to the girls too. They might have some hair-raising tales to tell about how they were brought up.We were very different from each other, he loved slouching in front of the TV, I wanted to loaf around town. He hated reading anything but the paper, I was a voracious reader. He hated songs, I was a crooner and a loud bathroom croaker. I needed the fan, he shivered under the blanket.But, as we grew older and more mature, we evolved into a better imperfect couple! We learnt to tolerate our differences.And now as an old uncleji and auntyji, I am reminded of Adam Sandler&rsquo;s song in the wedding singer. I wanna make you smile whenever you are sad. (We do this especially when the kids return to their homes after their Indian holiday.)Carry you around when your arthritis is bad (Lord and master cannot lift me so this is ruled out and if he tries this I will have to become a masseuse and as for carrying him around, I dare not!
