Let your mind expand.

Aspire Perspire And Achieve

To achieve anything you have to aspire and perspire. Empty talk takes you no where. The hen that cackles the most does not lay eggs!

Exercising the mind increases its capabilities. To develop the mind not only helps in your career, leading to promotion, efficiency and the respect of those around you It also makes life more interesting and pleasant, and tends to make you better company, and more attractive.

Constructive suggestions

The first step is to want to do it. It is possible, of course, to choose to keep to yourself, to pride yourself on our ignorance and to sit around waiting for something to happen.

The curious mind finds opportunities of service, makes contacts, has always something to think about. It wins the prized job when the lazy mind remains in a rut.

Set targets for the development of your personality. Lay out a long-term programme of reading, resolving to study, deep, and put into action the ideas from first-rate books.

Some of your self-improvement programmes will be related to skills connected with your work. An accountant, for example should continuously study all new ideas in accountancy.

Whatever your work, apply this general principle: become more knowledgeable and proficient in your skills. This brings you to the question of career ambition. It has two aspects; one is the desire to attain a high place in the organisation you work for, with the maximum financial reward. The other is the desire to make a lasting, original contribution in your special field. This is professional ambition.

Selecting an employment ambition requires careful thought to make sure it fits in with other aims. In the first place, it must be in accord with your temperament. Anyone who enjoys solitude, for example, could hardly find satisfaction in a desk work career.
