Usa Bmx 2016 National Number One Girl Cruiser

Jaycie Sinclair

Now racing for AllTow Wrecking Crew, with co-factory support from Yess Bicycles, Texas’ Jaycie Sinclair proudly showed us her newly built Yess cruiser. Like all of the AllTow team bikes, it has the identical orange-faded-to-white color scheme. But only on hers does the top tube read: National No.1 Girl Cruiser.

JAYCIE: “I really like the Yess bikes. They were really easy to get used to, and I really love the paint job. It’s so different. The bright colors are different than everybody else.

Jaycie has been a great addition to the NY-based team in the familiar orange, white and blue.

JAYCIE: “The team is fun. They were welcoming to me. We go on a lot of bike rides together. Sometimes we hit the trails.”

But it does seem odd this year seeing Jaycie without her twin sister, Haley.

JAYCIE: “She might start racing later in the year, after she finishes her gymnastics stuff. I hope she starts racing again; it’s weird without her. ”

In her chase for the Girl Cruiser title, Haley was vital in helping her sister stay in the right frame of mind.

JAYCIE: “At Grands, I was nervous! I knew we had more rider points, so all I had to do was win to take the title. I knew if I won, I won - and if I lost, I would just try again next year. Haley and Korie Gilbert were really good, helping keep me calm. Especially my sister - she’s so nice. Haley just grabbed me by the helmet and told me ‘Jaycie, you can do this! You’re the best.’ She just knows me, knows what to say.

Sitting No.3 in points, she lined up for the Grands main against ‘Skittles’ - McKenzie Gayheart, Haro’s Madelynn Desantis and five other super fast girls. By the time the gate dropped, she was in her usual, aggressive win-mode.

If there is one good thing about this year’s Covid closures of states and counties, it is that tracks that might not normally have gotten a shot at hosting a National or Gold Cup event, were now given that opportunity.

When you roll into the local Quiktrip and one of Tucson’s finest looks at your shirt and asks if you know Corben Sharrah, you can only be in one city in America. Often coined as the loudest city in BMX, it doesn’t matter if there is a single fan or a gaggle of Tucsonans, they know how to bring the energy.

With all of the uncertainty in event planning this year, it was not a huge surprise that the DK Bicycles North East Gold Cup Finals shifted locations somewhat last minute. We were very lucky to have it and at a great location, Akron BMX in Akron, Ohio. The Big Red Truck was last here for the 2018 North East Gold Cup Finals, and the track is located in a pretty incredible location.
