Milk production in India touched 167 million tons in the year (2017), which was a 5 percent growth than previous year (2016); most of it comes from subsistence farming base of 75 million farmers in the top 10 states. Demand for milk remained ahead of the supply, which is going to continue as more and more people join the middle class and have spare income to indulge in food and surly dairy and its derivatives.
