How AI Is Changing Photography Today!

If you were born before the 1990s, you may fondly recall photography studios and photo developing and printing shops as the commercial bastions of immortalizing our memories.

We even hired independent but prestigious professional photographers to capture our most momentous occasions for our prized photo albums and picture frames.

And of course, we had instant photobooths—by ‘instant’ we mean 3 to 5 minutes developing time to freeze-frame high school bonding moments or serve as a staple in legal documentation.

Those who took the art seriously and were fortunate to own the right equipment may also remember working long hours in the darkroom—inhaling the sharp, sour smell of developing fluid, and anxiously waiting for the prints to come out correctly. And that was after wrestling with roll after roll of film for your SLR.

Those days have faded into near-oblivion. Enter the digital camera.

FROM FILM TO DIGITAL TO MOBILE

With the rise of digital photography, anyone who owned a digital camera and photo manipulation software like Adobe Photoshop could easily pass off amateur work as professional, or at least offer cheaper photography alternatives in the market. This became more prevalent when free digital photography tutorials were released for everyone to use, coupled with digital photography communities.

Even first-time users who could push a button were able to use digital cameras to their advantage, pushing professionals to the wayside. A great subject, a few lucky shots, and a bit of know-how with post-processing almost evened out the landscape for photographers of all skill levels.

Still, the toughest pros stuck it out. After all, those who understood the value of a trained eye and a prestigious name were still willing to pay for years of reliable skill and experience.

And then came mobile photography.

STARDEW VALLEY SUPREMACY

Stardew Valley is definitely one of the most successful and most popular indie games to have come out in the last few years. What started out as a fan-made alternative to Harvest Moon (Back to Nature is definitely one of my ultimate favorite games of all time), the game eventually received financial support and a cult following, paving the way for its release in 2016. By 2020, the game has sold over 10 million copies.
