Made in 1957, ThePrince and the showgirl was a romantic comedy film telling the story of an unlikely romance between Prince Regent Charles of Carpathia, played by Laurence Olivier, and showgirl Elsie Marina, played by Marilyn Monroe. Although Laurence was said to have been less than enamoured with Miss Monroe on set, the public loved the fairytale romance on screen.
