The unexplored arena of aesthetic treatments might have more to offer than we thought.
Up till this point, Men’s Folio has constantly endorsed the basic three-step routine for taking good care of the skin, and we are sticking to our guns on it. Thorough washing of the face with an effective cleanser, preparing the skin with a toner and then loading it with a suitable moisturiser are the basic tenets of keeping the moneymaker healthy. The idea is akin to taking multivitamins for the upkeep of a healthy body.
However, since this is the Big Issue, we thought it would be timely to address the elephant in the room – aesthetics treatment. Going back to the comparison of a healthy body, sometimes, the human makeup gets attacked by external environmental factors that are beyond one’s control, and these multi-vitamins are rendered ineffective. Therefore, think of aesthetic treatments as modern medicine that treats viruses or even as immunisations – they function at a level that a basic skincare regime cannot.
After all, the skin is made up of three layers, where the deepest layer, the hypodermis, is the hardest to reach. The three-step routine and aesthetic treatments are also in line with what most men are looking for; they are relatively fuss-free when compared to the daily 10-step regimen.
THE MISCONCEPTION
The biggest misconception is that aesthetics treatments fall under the same category as cosmetic surgery; there is a clear distinction with the former being non-invasive. The defining factor lies in that aesthetic treatments do not involve cutting of the skin. While Botox and fillers fall under the same category, they do not involve going under the knife. Also, one will probably not walk out from an aesthetic treatment with an unrecognisable face; they are incapable of drastic facial alterations.
