'Talking Theatre' Is Now A Book

To share stage space with one of the living greats of Tamil literature was my privilege not long ago. The occasion was the release of a book, Talking Theatre, comprising a collection of articles from Indira Parthasarathy’s column in Sruti, along with a Tamil translation of it, a brilliant effort in record time by veteran journalist Charukesi. The books, an initiative of the TAG group of companies and Ramu Endowments, Chennai, were also printed in record time by A.S. Diwakar’s Creative Workshop. Padma Subrahmanyam released the books and presented the first copies to P.C. Ramakrishna and me.

87-year old Ranganathan Parthasarathy has been writing short stories, novels, plays and essays in Tamil under the nom-de-plume prefixing his late wife’s name for well over five decades. He is eminently qualified to write on theatre as one of the few playwrights in Tamil, one widely translated and performed in other languages at that.
