Three power-packed programs to burn off that figgy pudding and keep you from beings confused for a Claus.
The holidays are a time of good cheer, but they’re also a time of lots o’ beer, parties there and here, and an inebirated encounter at the office party with the reindeer. Although you’re sure to indulge (more than) a little this time of years, the best way to prevent stuffing your stockings is to stick to your exercise program. These fast and furious workouts will fit into even the most time-crunched schedule and can be done in less time than it takes to wrap a fruitcake. Get in at least four of these workouts per week and leave the holiday heft to Santa.
GOT MORE TIME?
Repeat the interval sequence from minutes 4:00 to 9:00 before moving to the cool-down.
NEED TO CUT IT SHORT :
Pare down the recovery intervals to 30 seconds and boost the interval intensity to 95 percent across the board.
HANUKKAH HIIT
Do this straight-up 10-minute cardio workout as a stand-alone when you're short on time or as a finisher after strength training. Choose your favorite machine or activity and go ho-ho hard.
BODYWEIGHT BLITZEN
Do this workout AMRAP style — as many rounds as possible — in 15 minutes, using good form. Keep track of your rounds and reps and try to beat that number the next time you do the workout.
1.AIR SQUAT
Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, toes turned out slightly. Moving quickly, kick your hips back and squat down to just below parallel, tracking your knees over your toes and keeping your chest lifted, then stand back up, squeezing your glutes at the top.
2. PUSH-UP
Place your hands underneath your shoulders and extend your feet behind you so your head, hips and heels are in line. Keeping your body rigid, bend your elbows and lower your chest until it touches the ground then extend your arms to return to the start.
