What is today a world-renowned name for fabrics and furnishings started out as a three-man venture in Paris, over eight decades ago. Since then, the brand has been creating fabrics and wallpapers in the purest French tradition. A rich archive of 7,000 references exists now. This includes creations by Pierre Frey himself as well as those of the four premium house brands: Braquenié, Fadini Borghi, Boussac and Le Manach.
On December 27, 1934, Pierre Frey along with two business partners, forayed into home furnishings, equipped with just two looms. Frey acted as creator, salesman, representative, director and errand boy all at once. His efforts paid off and three years later, he was able to buy out his two partners and establish his eponymous atelier at 47 rue des Petits Champs, which is still the headquarters. The practice’s values – promoting French know-how and emphasising quality, tradition and innovation — still drive the business, under his son Patrick’s directive as the company’s President and Artistic Director.
