Slowly and steadily, the stellar Shanghai based duo and EDIDA Designers of the Year 2017, are leaving their own unique mark on the design industry with creations that are modern yet rooted in tradition.
Often, we cross paths with our destiny in the most unexpected ways and sometimes such chance encounters lead to partnerships of a lifetime. This was the case for shanghai based architects lyndon neri and rossana hu, co-founders of neri&hu design and research office and edida international designers of the year 2017.
Though they overlapped a year in college – lyndon’s last at university of california, berkeley was at the same time as rossana’s first – and worked with american architect michael graves’ office for about ten years, the pair never got a chance to truly collaborate as they were in different teams. It was only when they moved to shanghai in 2004 that they decided to establish their own practice. “We always seemed to know that one day we will work together,” explains lyndon.
