“Time in a Bottle” consists of a magical time capsule of things we would like to see the cat fancier of 100 years from now know from our life in CFA. This time capsule can contain, anyone, anything, any memory --- and that person, thing and memory will be as alive, vibrant and wonderful as the day you put it in. It can be submitted with a name or anonymously. Our only rule is it must be something that has positively influenced you in CFA.
But I’m the Baby!
Right after my daughter was born, “Justin” (the cat I was showing that year) was quite put out that I would dare to reduce his weekend outings to deal with the squally smelly thing which seemed to absorb so much of “his’ quality time with me. To demonstrate his complete disdain for the “smelly creature” he made sure I knew about his displeasure by being present whenever I was with her, but pointedly ignoring me with his back to me and shunning any of my attempts to pet him or give him attention. Alternately, he was INCREDIBLY protective and possessive of my daughter and amazingly patient. He would not allow ANY other cat near her, and would bat them away when he thought they got too close. He would also snuggle with her whenever he thought I wasn’t looking and would always be near her and the first to run and get me if she squeaked or cried (and then ignore me as soon as I responded).

Library Cats felis cattus bibliotheca
Introduction - The Middle Ages, sometimes referred to as “The Dark Ages,” spanned approximately one thousand years, between 479 AD and 1450 AD. This time period is not generally considered to have been friendly to anyone, human nor animal, but it was especially hostile toward felines. Ignorance of knowledge and science was rampant among the majority of the population, with the ability to read limited to clerics and the wealthy. Myths, legends, and galliard songs spread widely throughout Europe as people migrated from place to place, searching for food and a safe habitat. Fear of the unknown and the unexplainable, particularly of witches and their cat familiars, was spread not only by the stories and songs, but by the Popes themselves. Without touching on the atrocities of medieval times, let us just say it was not the best time to be a cat.
