Hardware And How-To For Cross-Staking Coyotes

A single foot-long stake in solid clay soil may surely hold any fox. But coyotes are much stronger, and that is not the only reason they are able to pull a single stake.

A fox caught in a trap runs back and forth at the end of the chain, always putting sideways pressure on the stake.

Coyotes do the same thing but with far more violent bursts, and a big dog coyote may hit the end of a trap chain with nearly 300 pounds of impact.
