ANNA KENDRICK IS ON TO ME. ‘OF COURSE,’ SHE reasons, ‘if I were in [your] position, I’d be thinking, “How am I going to write about this bitch?”’ She knows from experience that journalists like me often have an agenda, or a ‘top line’ that’s been decided even before the interview has begun. But that still doesn't’t make it OK. ‘No matter how I choose to articulate things in interviews, somebody else writes it. So when people say it back to me – often years later – I always feel like, “Well, I might have said that, but it could also be because that journalist was trying to get me to say it.”’ Case in point, the writer she met in a bar who tried to persuade her to order shots of ‘screaming orgasm’ because she wanted the first line to be: ‘Anna Kendrick is having a screaming orgasm.’ Note to journalists: Kendrick is on to us all.
