It’s a small miracle that Rosie Lowe made it to today’s shoot. ‘My car broke down [at her dad’s in Devon, where she grew up]. I had to wait for the AA for two hours, got home at 2am and then was up again two hours later.’ But she doesn’t seem to be lagging as she arrives bare-faced for the shoot [hers is the kind of bone structure that doesn’t need make-up]. Lack of sleep doesn’t dim her enthusiasm, either. We discover she is a shoe obsessive and wants to try on everything, even the looks we don’t shoot. When the camera’s on her, she gamely bends her body into none-too-easy poses before heading home to Deptford. With fans including Elton John and Adele, get used to this face.

When are you happiest – in the country or the city?

‘I probably feel most peaceful in Devon. But I feel most excited in London. We grew up in the middle of nowhere, in a valley south of Exeter. It’s about a 45-minute walk to a neighbour’s or shop. I mean, my dad’s house doesn’t even have heating.’

Were the clothes on the shoot the kind you’d normally wear?

‘I usually go for simple looks. I love strong shapes, good cuts and quality material, stuff that I could wear in 20 years’ time. Saying that, I loved the Gucci dress with the feathers. It was bonkers. I’d like to wear it to a wedding – my own wedding, in fact!’
