The choice of a Brahmin chief minister, Devendra Fadnavis, in Maratha-dominated Maharashtra; a Punjabi counterpart, Manohar Lal Khattar, in Jat-dominated Haryana; and Raghubar Das in tribal-dominated Jharkhand are some of the popular examples.
