The Power Of Positive Thinking

Want to smash your body goals this summer? It’s time to train your mind as well as your body, says celebrity trainer Faisal Abdalla

The Power Of Positive Thinking

His killer HIIT workouts are famous for keeping Ellie Goulding and other stars in shape. His infectious energy and infamous Barry’s Bootcamp classes have made him one of the most popular trainers in the UK. But celebrity trainer Faisal Abdalla, aka Mr PMA, claims it’s another magic ingredient that makes his famous body transformation method so successful – and it can help you get in your best shape this summer too.

You don’t need a pricey PT or even a gym membership to get the benefits of this super-effective shape-up tool.

The secret is all in your mind. In his new book, The PMA Method – 14 Days to a Stronger, Healthier, Happier You (Aster, £14.99), Abdalla reveals the key to success is to have a positive mental attitude – or PMA (hence his nickname Mr PMA).

The PMA Method is a programme of fitness and diet but also, most crucially, positive mental attitude training. ‘Once you learn the basics of what you should eat and how you should train, you’re on your way to fitness,’ says Abdalla. ‘But what will keep you on track is a positive mental attitude so it’s important to dedicate energy to training your mind as well as your body.’

Believe it or not, it’s your mind that holds the power to your workout success. ‘It’s not your body that sets your limits, it’s your mind,’ he says. ‘The decision to either give up or power on comes from the mind. It’s PMA that will help you continue to reach for the dumbbells when you’d rather veg out on the sofa in your pyjamas!’
