10 Ways To Revolutionise Your Run

1 TRAIN ON THE TRACK

It might be fast and somewhat intimidating, but track running is making a comeback. Case in point – the top three UK Strava running segments (a section of road, track or trail clocked by runners using the app) for 2017 were on a running track, with 155,715 attempts on London’s Mile End Stadium Track, 142,834 runs on London’s Parliament Hill Track, and 98,665 sessions on Southampton Sports Centre Athletic Track. ‘Events with a festival atmosphere, such as The Night of the 10,000m PBs at Parliament Hill Track, are revitalising grass roots interest in track running, bringing track to a new audience,’ says Andy Baddeley two-time Olympic 1,500m runner. ‘People are discovering that training on a track can give both a sense of speed and provide a great way to add some precision to running sessions, as you know exactly how far and fast you’re running. Speed, fitness and a lit place to train after-dark – what’s not to love about track running? There are running tracks all over the country that are available to use free of charge (except during track meets and organised training times), or you could join a local running community and enjoy some coached track training. You never know, you might even begin to love it.
