Different Karmas Will Give Fruits At Different Times

Excerpts from Gurudev’s discourse on Patanjali Yogasutras
Different Karmas Will Give Fruits At Different Times

When you make the sources of misery and your fears more and more subtle, then they let you return to your Self. They let you bring the mind back to the Source. When these miseries are very dense, they bother you. They captivate your mind. When they become thinner and thinner, your mind becomes more free and you get back to your Self, your Source. When you are craving for something and it is not subtle, you are unable to relax or be still. However, once that craving is overcome, you are able to relax and meditate. Feverishness gets reduced and allows the mind to get back to the Source.

Now, what is the way to get rid of these miseries in life? The next sutra is:

Dhyaana heyas tadvrittayaha. These five vrittis can be eliminated through Meditation. Misery can be overcome through meditation. Patanjali emphasized that it can be done only through meditation. If you do not do it, then what will happen?

Klesha moolah karmaashayo drishta adrishta janma vedaneeyah.

If you don’t cleanse your Consciousness of these five miseries or impurities, then you will have to suffer in this life and the next, too perhaps.
