Soweto Theatre general manager Nomsa Mazwai (32) shares her love of the arts and vision to expand the theatre’s reach in Soweto.
I’m a Soweto-born and bred musician, poet, author and painter. I grew up in a home filled with art, African literature, music and creative people. This inspired me to explore myself within this space. I’m honoured that I was chosen to play a part in bringing theatre and economic development to a previously disadvantaged community.
Soweto Theatre’s doors are always open to people of all ages who are eager to learn. Our programmes are aimed at nurturing talented youngsters, and giving emerging artists a space to grow and explore. I’ve realised that people love the arts and are excited about the platform we have given them.
