Good things do come in threes, as Audemars Piguet’s latest reiterations of its iconic Royal Oak with Carolina Bucci have shown. The London-based jewellery designer speaks to Amy Yasmine about her latest masterpieces for the Swiss manufacture.
Carolina Bucci is a rebel. A downright badass rebel. While it’s one thing to stalk a stranger through New York’s chaotic traffic just to catch a glimpse of a watch—it’s how she first became acquainted with the brand— it’s another to challenge a renowned Swiss manufacture on its house codes, all in the spirit of reinvention. “With the first collaboration, I roughed up something that was already smooth and perfect,” the jewellery designer enthuses, sitting languidly on a couch across me as we review the details of her latest timepiece for Audemars Piguet. “This time, I wanted to do something on the extreme end. A play on texture, which, from a visual point of view has to be beautiful.”
