The new age retail stores are tackling their online rivals by embracing advanced technology. ''
The retailers are making use of everything from helpful robots to interactive mirrors to shelves embedded with sensors. The ultimate goal here is to make use of these real-world store features. With such digital features, retailers will be able to lure shoppers back from the internet. And these technologies may even help retailers nudge their potential customers to spend more in the procedure.
Amazon is set to experiment its experimental grocery store in Seattle. This store will let shoppers buy goods without essentially needing to halt at a checkout line. How this works is the sensors will either track items as shoppers put them into baskets or keep them back to the shelf. The customer’s Amazon account will get charged automatically.
Kroger, Neiman Marcus, and Lowe's are some of the giant companies that are already experimenting with these futuristic retail stores. For instance, Robots can help the shoppers to go to the right aisle. On the other hand, augmented reality apps can help the potential buyers see how a particular shade of paint will look like in the living room. This technology might even help in figuring out how you might look in a particular pair of jeans.
So many retailers have figured out, through trial and error, that technology will not be able to get too far ahead of shoppers. Technology has to be easy to use, and it should also be beneficial to shoppers in some way or another, be it to save time or to save money. If retailers get it right on, then they might thrive in boosting the purchases made at retail stores in such a time where consumers increasingly prefer to shop online.
