In a development that comes as no surprise to Raiders fans, right tackle Menelik Watson’s first season in Denver ended prematurely because of a torn tendon in his foot as well as a calf injury.

As rough as things have been in Oakland, it’s nothing compared to the mess in the Mile High City where Denver’s losing streak reached five consecutive games and six in seven following a 25-point loss to New England in Week 10. The Broncos have issues across the board, too. They’ve changed quarterbacks, going from Trevor Siemian to Brock Osweiler. The defense has taken a page from the Raiders playbook and cannot cover opposing tight ends. The special teams have been horrendous as of late. It all added up to the franchise’s longest losing streak since 2010. On the plus side, Von Miller continues to pile up sacks like Von Miller does and one could make a legitimate case for him being an early contender for defensive player of the year again. …

Watson, a second-round pick by Oakland in 2013, played in only 27 games over four seasons with the Raiders and never more than 12. General manager Reggie McKenzie opted to let Watson walk away in free agency and the Broncos signed him to a three-year, $18.75 million contract. …
