Hauschka's Hot Start Continues

Before this season, no Bills kicker had ever made two field goals from 53 yards or further in the same game.

Stephen Hauschka has now done it in consecutive weeks, just four games into his Bills career.

Hauschka connected from 55 and 56 yards in the final five minutes on Sunday to provide the margin of victory for the Bills’ 23-17 triumph in Atlanta. The game before, he made 53- and 55- yarders in the 26-16 win over the Denver Broncos.

“That’s exactly the situation I want to be in as a kicker,” Hauschka said. “Good conditions once again and we kind of set our lines before the game. For me then it was just about staying mentally sharp and focused. And knowing that if I put a good leg swing on it, it’s going to go through.”

Hauschka’s go-ahead 56-yarder at Atlanta was arrow straight and had just enough height to clear the crossbar. It was the second-longest field goal of his career.

Dak Prescott, Cowboys 6-2 • 235 pounds • 27 years old A solid starter who has a nice TD-INT ratio over his first five seasons (104-40), Prescott is an accurate thrower and very mobile. However, he’s coming off a compound fracture and dislocation of his right ankle, so it remains to be seen if this will impact his game moving forward.

Hunter Henry, Chargers 6-5 • 250 pounds • 29 years old A very talented player, Henry has had issues staying healthy, unable to complete an NFL season, including missing the entire 2018 season with a torn ACL. But when healthy, he’s a terrific all-around tight end who really connected with Justin Herbert in 2020 with 60 catches. Henry is very good at finding holes in zone coverage.
