If you ask most people what they think Goa is famous for, the reply will probably be beach resorts, fish and feni. But I can show you a glimpse of a Goa that is green, chirpy and full of birds conducting their own musical concert.
This spring break, my family and I decided to do something different. We stayed in a 200-year-old Portuguese mansion in the quiet, sleepy and simple village of Curtorim. Located about six and a half kilometres from Margao, Curtorim is wondrously green and full of birds and other small animals.

My family and I were delighted when we realised that Curtorim’s birdlife is rich and made up of species such as Golden Orioles, sunbirds, leafbirds, bulbuls, Yellow-cheeked Tits, munias, woodpeckers, Brahminy Kites, kingfishers, bee-eaters, Ospreys and more!
