KOLKATA TURNS INTO AN OPENAIR ART EXHIBITION DURING DURGA PUJA, FINDS SHARMISTHA CHAUDHURI. PHOTOGRAPHS BY MANJIT SINGH HOONJAN
Awestruck. It was the only word that could describe my feelings as I stood in front of a large pandal in North Kolkata. Kites in colours of the rainbow at the entrance, dark lighting and different religious weapons on display used to convey the situation the world is facing today, Maa Durga with her children standing tall at the end; the effect was haunting and yet, fascinating. It was a call for coexistence. As I turned around to look at the display for the last time, I knew I wouldn’t forget it anytime soon.
